Global Leaders gather at UN forum

Dear forum members, 9th June 2008, The UN news on title “GLOBAL LEADERS GATHER AT UN FORUM TO TACKLE TUBERCULOSIS THREAT” said that “The forum which has co-sponsored by the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria and the Stop TB Partnership, is expected to produce a Call for Action to drastically cut the number of deaths associated with HIV/TB”. I appreciate My GlobalFund for the spirit to combat the dual epidemic of HIV/AIDS and TB. The GlobalFund is capable to raise fund from the affluent countries and have been performing efficiently. From the fact sheet data infection from HIV/AIDS, TB and Malaria has been increasing rapidly. The problems of such infection cases are mainly from the Africa and Asian developing countries. Poverty and illiteracy are the basic background problem. The governments cannot perform their role to combat the diseases for lack of enough fund. On the other hand the developed countries have some cases of infection but under control. India: The Prime Minister Manmohan Singh reiterated his 2004 message to the Nation’s youth “promise to uphold the dignity of every person living with HIV in our country by love, affection, and social support.” Still India is in problem from infection in HIV/AIDS, TB, Malaria. The area of awareness, prevention and treatment in HIV/AIDS, TB and Malaria are required more attention. The GlobalFund may consider to: · Form a national level Fund Management other than CCM, alliance with governmental and non-governmental organization. · Raise fund from the Governmental and other stakeholders. · Disbursement of fund to the government and the non-governmental organization from the country level fund management. I invite GlobalFund to form a worldwide forum for a meaningful partnership to combat infection from HIV/AIDS, TB and Malaria. Please comment. Thank you. Asima Chakraborty General Secretary The Organization for Peace Environment and Human Rights [TOPER], Kolkata, India
