Re: Global Fund activities in Nigeria

OLAITAN IBIYEMI - Apr 04, 2006

If one has to be sincere, the Global Fund activities in Nigeria is not manifesting on the lives of the people in any way. I want to believe that the grant is going to the pocket of some few individuals who sit atop Global Fund activities in Nigeria.

Just as the activities of NACA in Nigeria which they have polilticised, the Global Fund activities in Nigeria is highly politicised.

If you don't know anybody who know somebody therein, even if your organisation is doing well and working, you will not have access to the fund . it's either they tell you that your organisation is not registered with Corporate Affairs Office (Even if you are well registered with your local government council) as a grassroots organisation.

Those who are having access to the fund have offices that do not exist. Some have their office in their briefcases and they get fund.

This is the truth and it must be told

Let Global Fund activities trickle down to the grassroots. There are so many CBOs working but have no access to institutional support or even project support. A good example is my organisation www.afcode.org. visit and see what we have been doing without any fund from any of these so-called international support.

Mar 27, 2006

Message from Agape:

Post subject: GLOBAL FUND ACTIVITIES AND NIGERIA
---------------------
There seems not to be records of activities of Global Fund in Nigeria which
is a major third world country. As a counsellor and Nurse, I know that the three major areas of interest of Global Fund post great health implications in the country. This accounted for the country hosting the roll-back malaria conference. Please what are Global Funds programme for Nigeria.
