WE ALL UNDERSTAND THAT IN STRUGGLING FOR BETTER HEALTH SYSTEM, ALL CONCERNED INSTITUTIONS INCLUDING NGOS, UNIVERSITIES, COMMUNITIES AND GOVERNMENTS SHOULD ACTIVELY PARTICIPATE IN THE PROCESS
Dear all,
My name is Upiek Riptoningrum, a lecturer in Graduate Program in Health Policy and Service Management, Gadjah Mada University, Yogyakarta, Indonesia.
I am interested to join this mailing list, to explore possible mutual global of partnership in increasing/improving health system development.
My main reason to join is actually simple, after an experience I would like to share, not to give bad example, but probably could be a lesson, especially for myself.
I have seen the ad for call proposal for the next round of GFATM. We have interest to participate in AIDS policy and research, both in terms of institution initiatives and for supporting our graduate students who might be interested to work on it. I looked around in GF website, downloading related proposal and information, but looks like access to our CCM is itself limited, and probably bureaucratically sound.
When I receive an announcement (in a mailing list) asking for response/help for improving proposal from a donor working in AIDS (because the one has been submitted to Geneva were "not recommended for funding"), I thought it's good at least they try to recollect wider participation. I tried to contact a name, but no response (until now) while its deadline is next Tuesday and next Monday is a public holiday. I thought, ok, probably they have found ways to improve their proposal already.
As you might notice that our university is located far from capital city, where all ministries activities held, but I do not see that should be an excuse for blocking information, while we all understand that in struggling for better health system, all concerning institutions including NGOs, universities, communities and governments should actively participate in the process.
Well my point is, as I observe in here, such partnerships is still missing somewhere. It's there, but somehow not yet optimized, and I can't figure out why that happened. Therefore I am glad GF use this forum to share experiences and perhaps expanding mutual partnership among those existing and those somehow (accidentally?) left behind.
Best regards,
Upiek Riptoningrum
